Start Information:

The day begins in College Park at Calvert Road Park.

The stage concludes in Annapolis (location TBD).

Details:

This is a population-dense area, so the ADT needs to make some distance-bulking contortions in order to find the least-congested way forward. Leaving College Park, it crosses through Greenbelt National Park, which contrary to my initial assumptions is not the smallest national park, and then loops northward through less developed areas used by the USDA, Secret Service, and the Patuxent Research Refuge. A busier stretch follows, heading south along MD 197 through historic Bowie.

After crossing along the southern edge of the 50/301 interchange, development thins out, allowing for a mellower ride on Rossback Road. Enjoy it, because this brings you back onto a busier road, the Defense Highway, which you'll follow to the outskirts of Annapolis. It might take longer than you like, working through urban sprawl, but the brick-covered historic center of Maryland's capital is a rewarding prize for your efforts.

Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Greenbelt National Park (1.8 miles), Old Town Bowie Welcome Center (14.7 miles), Bowie Gateway Center (22.5 miles), and Defense Highway - BP (31.6 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear.

Take Heed: The second half of this stage will have you on surface streets with regular auto traffic, so be attentive to your surroundings.
