The day begins across the Potomac from Harpers Ferry at the Appalachian Trail & C&O Canal Towpath.

The stage concludes in Glen Echo at C&O Canal Lock 7.

It's another day spent entirely on the C&O today, picking up the trail on the Maryland side of Harpers Ferry and then pushing southeastward along the Potomac. For as close as this section of the C&O is to DC, it's surprisingly sparsely populated. After Brunswick, which comes quite early in the day, there are few communities of any size. Indeed, it's important to give yourself a proper break at Whites Ferry, as it might be your last chance at a hot meal. And given that this is mid-November, you'll probably need it! Refueled, keep pedaling, because we have a special stop just ahead.

Event - C&O Canal Trust - Swains Lockhouse Visit

A special thanks to the C&O Canal Trust for arranging that guided visit. From there, it's just under 10 miles to the finish line, though it would be understandable if you also felt the need to make a scenic detour at Great Falls. We'll conclude at Glen Echo, just a short hop away from the capitol.

Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Brunswick (4.7 miles), Point of Rocks (11.4 miles), Whites Ferry (23.9 miles), Seneca Creek (36.8 miles), and Swains Lockhouse (43 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. Food may be available for purchase at Brunswick and Whites Ferry.

Take Heed: Taps at the C&O campgrounds are likely to be shut off for the season.
