The day begins at the Community Center in St. Meinrad.

The stage concludes at the Pioneer Cabin in O'Bannon Woods State Park

The American Discovery Trail is certainly not the most efficient way across America, and today's stage exemplifies that. Instead of moving in a straight line eastward, as one might in a car along I64, the route follows a U-shaped trajectory, looping far south past Indian and Tipsaw Lakes, across State Road 37, and finally down to the Ohio River just north of Derby. From there, the ADT turns back northward, roughly paralleling the river as it maneuvers through an S-curve, passing through modest Magnet, the Buzzards Roost Recreation Area, and riverside Alton.

After cutting across a second S-curve (the Ohio is even more meandering than the ADT in this section!), the ADT reaches Leavenworth, a small town with a much-appreciated general store. While the day's endpoint in O'Bannon Woods is geographically close at this point, there's still a lot of work to do as a consequence of the Blue River. (Anybody want to restore the old Iron Bridge? That would be quite helpful.) In any case, follow the Ohio River Scenic Byway past the Wyandotte Caves, eventually cross the river into the park, and then work your way back southwestward, past the other side of that dang bridge.

Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Indian Lake Rd (14.2 miles), Derby (36.5 miles), and Leavenworth (60 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. Food is available in Leavenworth and just off-route in Derby.

Take Heed: While most of this stage follows paved backroads, be prepared for dirt tracks as you navigate past Indian and Tipsaw Lakes.
