The day begins at the Allen Family Amphitheater in Newburgh.

The stage concludes at the Community Center in St. Meinrad.

We bid farewell to the Ohio River this morning, after an hour or so of riverside riding. Don't worry--we'll meet again later. For today, though, the ride veers inland, passing through expansive yards and endless soybean fields, following quiet paved roads through the gentle hills. Aside, it has to be noted, from an early stint on Indiana State Road 66, a busier highway that is necessary for crossing Honey Creek. That done, the quiet ride resumes, heading east along Red Brush Rd and then moving north through tiny Pelzer and onward to bustling Boonville. This is your best shot at a hot meal on the ride.

The northwood push continues to Folsomville, at which point the ADT resumes its eastward movement on Lincoln Trail Rd. After skirting the edge of the Little Pigeon Creek Wetland, the route moves through Gentryville, which has a convenience store, before continuing into the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial. A young Abe grew up here and also lost his mom during those years. A restored cabin in a bucolic grove offers a feel for what might have constituted his home, while Nancy Hanks Lincoln's grave is in the small cemetery. From there, it's less than an hour along Christmas Blvd to Santa Claus, Indiana.

You'll have to relinquish the baton here for a moment, because a pair of VIPS--Mr. and Mrs. Claus--will be turning out to accompany you through their home town. A special thanks to the Santa Claus Museum & Village for their participation and welcome!

Less than 10 miles now stand between you and the finish line. After pushing east to Fulda, head northeast on Indiana 545. This is a curving road with a limited shoulder, so you'll need to be attentive in places. Finally, it delivers you into St. Meinrad, which may feel a little like Europe. The archabbey is absolutely worth a visit, if you've never seen the complex up close.

Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Boonville (14.7 miles), Gentryville (32.7 miles), Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial (35.1 miles), and Santa Claus (40.1 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. 

Take Heed: Most of the day is spent on backroads with limited shoulders, but also limited traffic.
