The day begins in Goreville (location TBD)
The stage concludes in Eddyville at Shotgun Eddy's.
If yesterday was long and sparsely supported, today... well, today exceeds it on both fronts. After pushing south from Goreville, the River-to-River turns east along the south side of Dutchman Lake, making a twisting detour past the adjacent falls, and then passes under I24. A rare section along a paved road with fast car traffic--Highway 45--the trail resumes its eastward push, while also returning to a long series of trails, including Cedar Creek, Trigg Tower, Whistle, and Bay Creek. Finally, it follows Hayes Creek Trail for the final approach to Eddyville, where Shotgun Eddys will gladly serve up a burger or two for you.
Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at I24 underpass (8.3 miles), Gum Springs Trailhead (22.7 miles), and Cedar Grove Rd (32.5 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. Don't expect to have any opportunities to purchase food over the course of this stage, nor should you anticipate toilet access.
Take Heed: The River-to-River Trail can get overgrown and waterlogged in places in the offseason, so be ready for potentially difficult conditions if there has been inclement weather recently.
