Details:

A second day of southeastward progression along the Mississippi unfolds today, including an extended stretch on Illinois Route 3. After the village of Rockwood, the ADT swings much closer to the river, and nearly even crosses back into Missouri when it passes alongside a rare pocket of the state that falls on the east side of the Mississippi. After looping through modest Gorham, a brief jaunt along Route 3 precedes arrival in Grand Tower, where it will be possible to grab a bite. Immediately after that, the ADT actually does return to Missouri, in a small island created by the Tower Island Chute. 

From Grand Tower, the ADT joins the River to River Trail, which it will follow across Southern Illinois. This short opening leg follows dirt roads back to the northeast before concluding at the Inspiration Point trailhead. 

Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Rockwood Memorial Park (9 miles), Gorham (27.3 miles), and Grand Tower - Cardinal Corner (35.6 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. 

Take Heed: Opportunities for food and restrooms are quite limited in this stage.
