The day begins at Sarpy County Fairgrounds in Springfield.

The stage concludes at Democracy Park in the northwestern outskirts of Omaha.

Our eastward march to the Atlantic will have to wait for another day. Instead, this one moves almost exclusively northward, in pursuit of the biggest city in Nebraska. Leaving Springfield, the MoPac Trail quickly transitions into the 144th St Trail (since it runs directly alongside that major artery). We have to do some maneuvering after that, on a series of minor suburban roads, to navigate over to the westside of I80.

A lovely walk follows, mixing together suburban walking trails and quiet neighborhood streets (and one less appealing, but short, stretch back on 144th), looping along the westside of Wehrspann Lake and the eastside of Zorinsky Lake. 

Things get more urban once the route breaks with Papillon Creek, following Pacific St east and then rejoining 144th for a third tour of duty. After one last delightful stroll around Standing Bear Reservoir, the final push into Omaha is entirely roadbound, concluding on the city's northwestern edge.
