The day begins in Ellinwood at Historic Wolf Hotel

The stage concludes in McPherson at the intersection of Main & 1st.

Today's ride is a nearly uninterrupted eastward progression, including 34 consecutive miles of straight-line movement along US Route 56 and Avenue M. Who needs a GPS? Aside from the small town of Chase, which is just off-route, Lyons is the only settlement of any size along the way, so plan on refueling there. At that point, you split from the highway, and 5.5 miles later Avenue M transitions from paved to a dirt track.

35 miles into the stage, you'll experience something novel: a right turn! That craziness won't last too long, though; one block later, you'll head east once more. At the 44-mile mark, you'll shake things up further but turning northward and crossing over US Route 56, before making the final eastward push into McPherson.

Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Lyons - Foodliner (19.3 miles), Ave M & Plum (35.2 miles), and Landmark & 8th (46.7 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. 

Take Heed: The morning follows the highway to Lyons, with all the risks that brings from auto traffic. The second half follows a mix of paved secondary roads and dirt tracks. If you have a road bike, let's check in about alternatives.
