Start Information:

The day begins in La Junta at Santa Fe Plaza.

End Information:

The stage concludes in Lamar in the square near Prowers County District Court.

Details:

The morning kicks off with a northeastward ride along Colorado 194, leading past historic Bent's Old Fort. Aside from that interruption, this is mostly wide open farm country, just north of the Arkansas River. The ADT doesn't enter Las Animas proper, instead passing along the northern edge where the now-closed Bent Fort Inn sits, and where the route merges onto US 50 for 3.5 miles. After that, it moves along backroads and dirt tracks past the Fort Lyon National Cemetery and around the John Martin Reservoir.

After a long, straight eastward ride, the ADT turns south on the outskirts of Hasty, moves through the most developed part of the reservoir's state park, and then heads east again along a dirt country road. Shortly after passing by the Southeast Colorado Regional Airport, the road leads into Lamar.
