End Information:

The stage concludes in Cañon City at the Reynolds Trail Head.

Details:

This is an absolutely delightful stage for hiking, running, or biking. After a few quick turns leaving Cripple Creek the town, you'll join Shelf Rd southward. This historic wagon track runs alongside Cripple Creek the stream, sometimes with a jarringly stiff drop separating the two. After Sand Gulch Campground, transition onto the paved Garden Park Rd, proceeding through an area famous for the excavation of dinosaur fossils.

You'll pass through the center of Cañon City when you cross US 50. Continue straight on Reynolds Ave a little further. Just after crossing the Arkansas River, you'll find the trailhead on your left.

Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Sand Gulch Campground (13.4 miles) and Garden Park Fossil Area (19.9 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. 

Take Heed: Shelf Road, which you'll follow for the first half of the stage, is a multi-use track with blind corners and some steep drops. Take great care when managing turns.
