This stage has been postponed until 2027.
You've got a few easy miles to warm up this morning, so enjoy those, because then it's a stiff 2000-foot climb over a couple miles over Hope Pass (12,524). Throughout, you'll be continuing along the Continental Divide Trail, which will bring you all the way to Twin Lakes, past the Interlaken National Historic Site. The CDT loops all the way around the lakes, the walking much easier now. Turning north, with Mount Elbert high to the west, the trail finally brings you to Half Moon Dr. Follow this all the way to the outskirts of Leadville. The final approach turns right on CO 300, left on County Road 5 and right on County Road 4. Leadville is America's Highest City (much to the consternation of Weed, CA), sitting nearly two miles high.
Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at County Road 25 (14.8 miles), Mt Elbert Power Plant (18.5 miles), Mt Elbert Trailhead (27 miles), and Half Moon Rd (33.7 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear.
Take Heed: No support is possible over the opening leg of this walk, which includes a tiring up-and-down. Have all the supplies necessary to get you through that.
