The day starts out easily enough, with five miles heading southward on Colorado 133. Transition onto a gravel track as the ADT forks left onto County Road 3, running alongside Crystal River into Marble (its quarries have produced some of the finest marble anywhere in the world). After passing through the neighboring townsite of Crystal, you'll head deep into first the White River National Forest and then Gunnison National Forest, passing between the two near the high point of the stage--around 11299 feet--shortly after Schofield Pass. That concludes a 2500-foot ascent from Marble, and begins a 2000-foot descent over the next 5 miles. Forest roads bring you most of the way down, aside from a jaunt near the end on Lower Loop Trail, which delivers you into Crested Butte.

Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Marble (11.2 miles), Schofield Pass (22.1 miles), and Slate River Rd (33 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. 

Take Heed: The stretch between Marble and Schofield Pass is exceptional difficult to reach in a support vehicle, so be prepared to navigate through there without any assistance.
