The day begins at the Visitors Center in James M. Robb State Park on the outskirts of Fruita.
The ADT departs Fruita heading south on State Highway 340. At Fawn Ln, depart the highway and join the Monument Canyon Trail, which leads into the Colorado National Monument--and initiates a 2000-foot ascent. Cross Rimrock Dr and join CCC Trail, leading to Black Hills Trail. Cross back over Rimrock and continue onto Liberty Cap Trail. Emerge at the Wildwood Trailhead, leaving the monument and proceeding on paved roads. Soon, you'll reach some urban sprawl from Grand Junction, but there's still work to be done. Work your way to the Colorado River and follow a series of trails along the Redmonds Power Canal. Finally, rejoin State Highway 340 and proceed into the city center.
Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Monument Canyon Trailhead (4.8 miles), Rimrock Dr (10.8 miles), Liberty Cap Trailhead (13.8 miles), and Wildwood Trailhead (20.4 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. Toilets are accessible at Liberty Cap Trailhead. A gas station is accessible at 22.2 miles.
Take Heed: There are no opportunities to purchase food over the first 22.2 miles, so be prepared.
