Start time: 7am
The stage begins in Preston at the corner of Preston Ave & White River Rd
After a short section leading southeast towards, and then onto, NV 318 towards the outskirts of Lund, the route doubles back on Sawmill Road, heading northeast. 7.5 miles later, the straight lines on the map give way to curving ones, as the forward progress is disrupted by the Egan Range of mountains. A 3000-foot ascent follows, as the trail turns southward, following the ridge before turning back towards the east once more. A more modest descent leads out from the mountains.
20 miles from the starting point, the ADT turns northward onto White Pine County Rd 45 / Cave Valley Rd, and the remainder of the stage continues in this direction on Cave Valley Rd. Soon after passing the Willow Creek Trading Post Airport on your right, the turn-off for Ward Charcoal Ovens will be on your left.
Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Sawmill Rd (7.5 miles), County Rd 45 (20 miles), and further down County Rd 45 (28 miles).
