The stage concludes at Martin Ranch
While the "main" branch of the American Discovery Trail loops south through Round Mountain and then over Mt. Jefferson, we'll follow the bike alternative today, heading due east on Toquima Range Rd. While this approach doesn't climb as high as Jefferson, the morning still involves a significant ascent (2600 feet over 17 miles) to the crossing of the Toquima Range. Soon after, the route turns northward, reuniting with the main ADT.
A series of dirt tracks skirt the eastern edge of Mount Wilson and Diana Peak, with Dry Lake living up to its name to your right. The day concludes as the trail turns eastbound, visiting the ghost town of Potts and then following White Sage Canyon Road and National Forest Road 025 through Monitor Valley.
Martin Ranch sits just south of the ADT, following Martin Ranch Rd. Founded in 1887, the farm is now on its 6th generation as a family-run operation, and we appreciate them letting us camp on their grounds.
Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Monitor Valley Rd (25.1 miles) and Diana's Punch Bowl (45 miles). Water will be available to top off bottles, along with all necessary participant gear. Be prepared to cover the last 23 miles without any further water/food access.
