The stage concludes in the center of Foresthill at Memorial Hall.
As you might infer, it's downhill from Overlook Park, dropping 700 feet over the first few miles along the Western States Trail and passing the Black Hole of Calcutta Falls. Before long, the trail moves alongside the American River, and then makes two bridge crossings before joining the Confluence Trail. A more strenuous section kicks in from there, climbing back through the hills up towards Foresthill Road at a few points, and then dropping back down to the river. Be prepared--the last seven miles of the day on the Western States Trail are the hardest, climbing 2400 feet over the course of a pair of ascents, with a mellower section providing a breather in between.
Take Heed: You are unlikely to be able to acquire food or water over the course of this stage, aside from the support vehicle. Plan accordingly.
Support: A support vehicle will be accessible at Confluence Trailhead (4.4 miles, toilets), Foresthill Divide Trail Parking (10.9 miles), Driver's Flat (15.4 miles). You're on your own from that point onward, so be prepared.
